It has been another extraordinary year for Mountain Crest wrestling. MC has always been tough competition on the mat, and this year was no exception. Both veterans and rookies shined throughout the season and while this last weekend at state was not the finale some were hoping for, it did not change the fact that this season was a success. Every MC wrestler who gave their all during the season can hold their head up high. During and after taking second place at Divisional’s, we had the unfortunate plethora of injuries that gave us a big hit at State. It is hard, especially as a senior, to get injured at the end of your season. But state is not a reflection of who gave their greatest effort throughout the season. That has already been shown before. What matters is that whatever happens, we move forward. With many talented freshmen, along with our awesome coaches, there is no doubt that the legacy of Mountain Crest Wrestling will continue through the years.

Congratulations to MC state champion Gabe Sanders! Sanders battled for the 126 lb title with the state’s best and emerged victorious. There is no doubt that Sanders will continue to bring MC success in wrestling in the next few years. Our consolation champions were Terrell Lee (113) and Hunter Schroeder (195). Zack Smith was one win away from the placement rounds. We had many other well fought matches as well. Let’s go Mustangs!
