Registration is now open for Mountain Crest students, so that means we have to decide what classes we have to take next year. Of course, we always have to take our core classes, but what electives are available next year?

Floralculture is a great class for anyone! Mrs. Haslam teaches this class and she does a great job. If you have ever seen anyone walking around the halls with amazing floral arrangements, they made it in this class!

Photography is a great class to take if you want to improve your photo skills. This is a great skill if you want to impress your friends with your picture-perfect posts!

Print-making is another class taught by Shupe. This class teaches you how to make your own prints and artwork. It’s a great class for artists and non-artists alike.

Social Dance

Many people have taken social dance already, as there are huge class sizes. Mrs. Shelton is a great teacher and will not pressure you into doing anything you do not want to. Full disclaimer: You do have to dance and communicate with people. After all, this is a ballroom class. So, you will have to dance with a partner. This class is not for the faint of heart. But, once you do it, you will love it!

Botany is the study of plants. This class is taught by Mr. Hansen, so if you took any of his other classes, you should take this class! You will learn about all different kinds of plants and their functions. I fully recommend this class!

Have you ever wanted to impress someone with your language skills? Well if so, then this is a perfect class for you! French is a romantic and useful language, taught by Mr. Basset. Also, taking two years of a foreign language is a requirement for the Regents Scholarship!

These are some great electives that are offered here at MC. To find out more about these, ask your counselor or teacher. Have a great day!
