It was a wild day during the 2019 Region 12 Swimming Championships. Only four events concluded at the Stang Aquatic Center before a mechanical problem occurred that forced the meet to resume at the USU HPER pool. During the pool change, it was looking quite grim for the MC boys, as we were a significant amount of points behind Sky View. Nevertheless, they pulled through with amazing races on the boys’ and girls’ sides and the meet resulted in 1st for the boys, and 4th for girls. Despite only one event winner on the boys’ side, they were able to defend their region championship title for the fourth straight year.

A few of the notable Mountain Crest races are listed below:

Abby Edwards placed second in the 500 freestyle and fourth in the 200, achieving personal records in both.

Abby Scott placed fourth in the 100 butterfly and achieved a personal best along with the 100 back.

Mason Leishman achieved the only first place for MC, in the 500 freestyle, along with second place in the 100 back.

Zach Roundy placed second in the 200 IM and third in the 100 Breaststroke, with PRs in both.

Many other Mustangs achieved personal bests and placed well. It was truly a wonderful day for MC. On to State at BYU!
