In Cardi B’s third album, she really shines. This album helped her gain popularity and a larger fan base. The album features appearances from Bad Bunny, Chance the Rapper, Kehlani, 21 Savage, and SZA. Her most popular song is “I Like It” as it’s been overplayed this year.

Pale Waves makes their debut with My Mind Makes Noises. Their album features songs like “Kiss”, which was featured in the 13 Reasons Why soundtrack, and “Eighteen”. This indie rock band has a bright future.

Pusha T amazes audiences with Daytona, his fourth album. The album is short–it only has seven songs–but Pusha T shows his flexible rhymes and the way he can collaborate with other artists. This album features appearances from artists like Rick Ross and Kanye West.

Tori Kelly, your traditional pop singer, has shown that she can do more than just sing lyrics off a page. With her second album, Hiding Place, she shows that she can really sing. She orchestrates a gospel album while proving she’s immune to sophomore slumps.

In his fourth album, Astroworld, Travis Scott shows that he is no stranger to making great music. The album is very popular; his song “Sicko Mode” peaked at #5 on Billboard. The album features plenty of other artists including Drake, Stevie Wonder, and Frank Ocean. This album also has other popular songs, such as “Stargazing” and “Butterfly Effect”.

Drake has shown us time and time again that he can make an album. On his eighth album, he shows his own creative enigma and collaborates with artists like Michael Jackson and Jay-Z. His most popular songs from this album are “In My Feelings” and “God’s Plan”.

3. Shawn Mendes by Shawn Mendes

Shawn Mendes hit 2018 with great music in his third album, Shawn Mendes. He had support from artists like Ed Sheeran, Julia Michaels, and John Mayer. This album shows Mendes in a new light; in his song “In My Blood” he talks about his problems with anxiety and how he won’t give up because it isn’t in his blood. And he shows his heart on his sleeve with “Where Were You in the Morning”.

Ye, Kanye West’s tenth album, is short. The album includes seven songs, like Pusha T’s album Daytona. His song “Yikes” peaked at #8 on Billboard’s chart and “All Mine” peaked at #11. The album pays homage to his classic albums whilst bringing us a “new” Kanye.

1. Electric Light by James Bay

Electric Light is James Bay’s sophomore album, and he completely changes his style. His first album, Chaos and the Calm, was a singer/songwriter album. In his new album, he completely changes his style, drawing inspiration from David Bowie, The Strokes, and Kings of Leon. His album is a nice fluffy cake iced with perfection. The songs “Pink Lemonade”, “Us”, and “Wild Love” especially contribute to this icing.
