To take a selfie, it takes a lot of skill and mindset. I have a three step process that always works, and will get you a lot of admirers.

The first step in taking a rad selfie is setting up the environment. The background can make a huge difference. Whatever mood you’re in will show through your background. It can also make you look worse, or even terrible! Make sure the lighting shows off your best features, and highlights your hair. Make sure you do not have a blotch of sunlight on your head, as this looks like a demented unicorn. With a great environment, your selfie can’t go wrong.

The second step in taking a rad selfie is your pose. Some iconic poses are: a smile, kissy-face, wink, and even looking of in the distance. Some of these poses might be more effective than others, so how do you choose the right one? First of all, consider your background. What do you feel in your environment? Base your pose off of what would make the most sense. The next factor in choosing your pose reflects your mood. If you are trying to tell your followers that your life is amazing, choose a pose that demonstrates that. On the other hand, if you are felling sad, choose a pose that shows off your eyes. All of these moods really affect your selfies.

My final tip has to deal with the extra touches. Some of these might be filters, props and even captions. Filters can be a great touch to an already amazing selfie. Too many filters can give your followers the wrong impression. I recommend five at a time. Choosing these filters depends on what you are trying to tell your followers. If you want to look fun, use a Snapchat filter, but be specific. Some filters will give the wrong impression, and they can make you look silly. Props are also a big factor in the art of selfies. Props can either make or break your selfie, so be cautious.  Some great props include: dogs, sunglasses, plants, and even your grandma. But be careful! too many props will make you look desperate for attention. Props should add to the overall feel of the selfie and show off your greatest beauty. Lastly, captions tell your followers what your feeling without actually telling them the truth. Captions like “Selfie Sunday” or “Chillin’ for Days” are great captions. Captions should not boast, but definitely tell your followers that you know that you’re a star. Props can either help your selfie or damage it! Some great props include: dogs, sunglasses, plants, and even your grandma. But be careful! Too many props will make you look desperate for attention.

Now that you know how to take the raddest selfie ever, you will gain followers everyday. Catch me on the Beauty Train. Cathiey up and out!
